Fire Damages Two Glens Apartments

October 8, 2011

On Oct. 8 at 4:10 a.m., the Pequannock Fire Department was dispatched to the 43 building in the Glens after a caller reported smoke. Upon the arrival of the firefighters, a large volume of fire broke through the roof and the Pequannock Township Fire Companies Nos. 1 and 2 searched the residence, which was unoccupied. The fire took an extended time to suppress from the exterior by Pequannock fire companies because of the compromised roof and flooring."The fire was not extinguished until about 6 a.m. The fire damaged the second floor of the unit, with additional fire damage and associated water damage to the entire unit. The adjacent unit also had extensive water damage. Mutal aid was provided by Pompton Lakes/Riverdale and Tri-Boro, along with firefighters from Riverdale, Pompton Lakes, Kinnelon and Boonton.
