Small Plane Crash

A small plane crashed in Pequannock shortly after takeoff from Lincoln Park Airport Friday afternoon.

The plane, a 1949 Stinson registered in Lafayette, crashed and burned in the front yard of a home near Farm and Sunset roads around 3 p.m. The two people on board escaped with minor injuries. No injuries on the ground have been reported. A witness said the plane failed to gain altitude after takeoff, and crashed about a half mile away from Morris County's Lincoln Park Airport. JCP&L reports about 600 customers are without power due to the crash. Representatives have not said when service might be restored.
